Biography
Regis is a Coerthan Manor Lord (though his predecessors are Ishgardian), or Baron, who lives mostly in his lowland estates de Amadeux. The property, and town he lives in and assists with bringing prosperity to, borders the Shroud so the winters and weather are not so harsh for his distillery and House Business. He deals in fine liqueurs, specifically Amaretto and Chambord.Regis is a friendly but calm individual, though he can be quick to joy.He served briefly in the Artillery corps for the Haillenarte Machinists during the war efforts, but shortly after its conclusion, was forced to take the mantle of Baron lord after the passing of his father from illness. Due to his youth in taking on head of House, he has a sleepiness about him for the never ending work, but do not mistake him for complacent or lethargic. He loves conversation, and is endlessly curious about the happenings within the City Proper. To Note About Regis
There is something careful, about the way he walks, each step considered with quickness, swiftness, but taken with care. When one walks amongst trees, and bushes and vines, he tries his hardest not to step upon fruit and roots and stray branches. On a particularly tired day, his heel might drag, but he does not walk with impudence.
His fields and orchards are full of fruit, the cool air of the surrounds are ripe with the scents of sugar. It lingers on him, in passing, you may scent off of him the grown apricots and mild blackberries, as well as cool ozone of rain, something mossy and relaxing. As one who is outside, in the sun, and around frosty, dewy mornings.
Storylines
In Pursuit of Growth
Regis is always looking to strike a good bargain, or secure additional contracts for the continued longevity of his business and subsequently, his House de Amadeux. His amaretto is made from apricot pits and his chambord from blackberries. Not to be wasteful, the fruit of the apricots is being made into a mead, which he will also share at a much reduced price since that is not what he is known for. The tavern de Amadeux features it mostly. If you have been to his town in the Lowlands, you might have tasted it, and taken a keen interest.
The winters are not so harsh where he borders the Shroud, allowing his orchards and fields to grow, though some can be worse than others, making him rely on imports from Gridania, as well.
Regis is always open to negotiations for barkeeps and other purveyors, especially if from the City Proper: Ishgard, to spread his drink, and from Gridania, to secure their produce in trying times. In Pursuit of Relaxation
Having been Baron lord for some few years now, he is near perpetually tired, but do not let the slight darkness beneath his eyes fool you. Regis is alert, and friendly and looking for social connections. With regularity, he will, and does, make trips into the City of Ishgard with the intent to explore, listen, and learn. Being from Coerthas, and residing there, he knows he misses out on the bustle of City Life, with the conclusion of the War, the change of tides and opinions, he is very curious. You will find him frequenting not only the upper echelons' choice drinking holes and gentlemen clubs, but the Forgotten Knight as well, and perhaps even some unimposing Brume Bars. If you see him, he is but a greeting and smile away.Once Upon a Time
There is something to be said, for the connection between Men at Arms, perhaps he could be a spoiled lord, knowing comfort and peace now where his only suffering is that of lack of sleep--but he did do some time before taking up the mantle of Baron lord in Coerthas. Deft of hand, and keen of sight, his place along side Haillenarte's Skysteel Manufactory carries weight. He served in the Artillery division, manning the Bertha Canons and Dragon Killers as well as their general upkeep and logistics. Did your character serve with him? Or perhaps being from an opposing House, your character forced to do cooperative exercises with his contingent? Recognition abound, a friendship or rivalry could form.Round-About Rough-Housing
If every red rose has thorns, then so too, can it be said, for every lord to have his vice. Drink aplenty, to be one, for a certainty, if Regis is in the City, one would be certain to find him imbibing after long travels, and hard tribulations of a lordships land owning predicaments. But there is another vice, one more frequently seen in Coerthas, as it was deemed unscrupulous during the War in the City Proper, a 'Gentlemans' sport; Boxing. Yes, Regis likes to box, in an amateurs fashion and style, and as it somewhat returns to the City, he can be found frequenting those events at the Proving Grounds, where he may bet, and, if he comes soon enough to enlist, partake of a bout, or two. The rules are simple, no face, or head strikes, and no hitting while you are down. Three minute bouts where points are awarded for clean hits, and, ten second knock outs. Talk to him about the joys and adrenaline of boxing, watching, or, participating.
